About Me
Having completed a Theatre Design BA at Wimbledon College of Art in 1984 I headed straight into the world of theatre painting in the West End as a freelance scenic artist and have spent 40 years building a reputation for producing detailed and high profile backcloths and scenery for the top production companies across the globe. From musicals such as ‘We Will Rock you’, ‘Miss Saigon’ to the 'Magic Flute’ at Glyndbourne’ opera and many Matthew Bourne ballets also extending into murals, interiors, exhibitions and rock concerts. The ability to create paintings at a large scale with precise image reproduction in any style has many applications and during my 21 years working in London I worked on a variety of commercial projects from Exhibitions at the V& A Museum, Decorex, many mural works including working at Cliveden and Selfridges window displays.
I moved from the hustle of London to Devon in 2006 to use the paint frame facilities at TR2, the Plymouth Theatre Royal workshops, and continued to be busier than ever although I took up kayaking the white waters of the River Dart, the seas around the stunning South Devon coast and further beyond the UK in Norway, Sweden and Greenland. I surprised myself by working through the British Canoeing Awards with the support of friends and family and achieving Advanced Sea Kayak Leader and also became a Performance Sea Kayak Coach and a Sea Kayak Coach Provider and have encouraged many other women paddlers by co organising The Women’s Sea Kayak Festival in 2015 and every other year since. I now coach in the South West and for events including the Sea Kayaking Cornwall Symposium, events in Anglesey and also work as a guide. This experience has brought me into direct contact with the dynamism and energy of the water itself which has inspired my own artwork. I made a further move west to live in Cornwall in 2022 where I’ve been enjoying sailing, cycling and exploring. .
